If you are an avid hiker, mountain biker or simply love to immerse yourself in nature, La Piana dei Castagni Farmhouse is the ideal starting point to explore an area rich in trails, with over 160 km of well-marked paths that wind through forests, hills and breathtaking views.

The trails surrounding the farm offer a wide variety of routes, suitable for all levels of fitness and interest. Whether you are looking for a relaxing walk or a more challenginghike, you are sure to find the perfect trail for you.
Among the most well-known and popular trails, they deserve special mention:
- Fairy Forest: an enchanted trail, winding through a forest of ancient chestnut trees, where you can encounter magical places: the wooden giraffe, the wild man’s den, Munch’s Scream, and the hawk’s peak. A special place where time seems to stand still and nature is revealed in all its beauty.
- Gothic Line: a historical trail, retracing the places where the Gothic Line was fought during World War II. This is an exciting journey that allows people to discover evidence of a difficult past and reflect on the history of our country.
- Burrows Trail: a loop adventure trail that winds through the woods near the Labante caves and allows us to encounter the large Serretto Monoliths and the incredible Burrows, two huge cavities carved by slow water erosion.
- Gea Gorge: a spectacular trail, leading inside a deep canyon, where the Gea stream flows. An evocative place, where the presence of ancient mills (now ruins) underscores the importance of the power of waterways in the past.
- Monte Pigna area: a natural area, offering numerous trails, suitable for all levels of difficulty. A great place for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, where you can admire the local flora and fauna and where there is a real open-air forest engineering school with reproductions of works to be carried out for forest maintenance.
- Piccola Cassia: a historical route, retracing part of the ancient Longobard road in the stretch from the ancient Abbey of Nonantola to Lucca and then on to Rome. An evocative itinerary that finds in Rocca di Roffeno the only meeting point with the more famous Romea Strata that allows you to discover medieval villages, Romanesque parishes and landscapes of great beauty.
At La Piana dei Castagni Farmhouse, you will find trail maps, information on levels of difficulty, and advice on which trails best suit your needs.
